Branding for grooming brands

Osmium builds brand identities for grooming brands — barbershops, salons, and men's care lines — including Off Code Men's Grooming Salon in Los Angeles. A grooming brand lives on a shelf, a mirror station, and a phone screen at the same time, so the identity has to survive a 2-inch tub lid and a storefront window without losing its edge.

What grooming brands usually get wrong

The logo is drawn for a business card and then crushed onto a 2 oz pomade tin, where the wordmark stops being legible at arm's length on a retail shelf. Osmium sizes the mark for its smallest real application first and scales up from there, because the tin is the version a customer holds every morning.

The palette is picked on a white screen and never tested against the actual finish. Matte black tubs, amber glass, and brushed steel barber stations each shift the same hex value, and a grooming brand that only exists as RGB will not match itself in the room. Proofing on the real substrate is the only way to know.

Signage is treated as an afterthought, so the mirror-station decal and the storefront window end up using two different lockups and read as two separate businesses to the same walk-in customer. One lockup, sized for both distances, solves it before the vinyl is cut.

How much does branding cost for a grooming brand?

$1,500 USD$4,500 USD

Branding for a grooming brand starts at the Core Build price and rises when the brand also needs a storefront to sell from. A grooming brand carries more physical applications than most: tins, tubs, bottle necks, station decals, a service menu, and a window. The Core Build covers the system those applications come from, and the Alloy Build adds the site where the products are actually bought. The Core Build covers strategy, the logo system, colour, typography, and a written guidelines document for $1,500 USD, delivered in four to six weeks. The Alloy Build adds a custom-coded website for $4,500 USD, delivered in four to eight weeks. Both prices are published in full on the pricing page, and neither changes without written approval once the project starts. Osmium invoices half before the work begins and half on delivery, and any addition to the scope is quoted as a separate line item before anyone starts on it.
